The JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). What’s interesting about HA is that it’s a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Each product in the JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA.

Before Treatment

• Avoid alcoholic beverages within 24 hours of your treatment.
• Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vioxx, etc.), Aspirin, Vitamin E, and Ginko Biloba 1 week prior to treatment. This will reduce the possible side effects of bruising and/or swelling in the treated area.
• You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you have a history of oral herpes, you must pre-treat with an anti-viral 3 days before your scheduled visit.

• Swelling, redness, and tenderness will occur after your treatment and usually resolves within 72 hours.
• Ice can be applied to treated area to reduce swelling in the first 24 hours after treatment.
• Avoid manipulation of treated area for a minimum of 4 hours.
• Avoid products that boost your metabolism for 1-2 weeks following your treatment as these products can minimize your results by breaking down the Juvederm.
• For the first 24 hours you should avoid strenuous exercise, alcoholic beverages, extensive sun or heat exposure, as well as medications that tend to thin the blood.
• Avoid aesthetic lasers, microdermabrasion, or IPL over areas with Juvederm® for a minimum of 1 week after treatment.

Juvederm™ employs a patented technology to create a smooth consistency gel that gives you a smooth natural look and feel unlike other hyaluronic acid facial fillers (that have a granular consistency). In addition, Juvederm™ XC (extra comfort) is a hyaluronic acid wrinkle filler with lidocaine, a pain reliever that allows you to be more comfortable during and after treatment.

Another main advantage of Juvederm™ versus semi-permanent fillers is that it is reversible. With Juvederm™ you can return to your pre-filler appearance if you don’t like the results.

Results are instant. You will see an immediate improvement in the treatment area. Most people need one treatment to achieve an optimal outcome. Supplemental “touch-up” treatments may be required to achieve and maintain the desired look.
