Botox is the number one cosmetic procedure in the United States, with 5.8 million treatments in 2013. Botox was introduced in the late 1980s by ophthalmologists for treating optic muscle disorders. It was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2002, helping millions of patients get rid of nagging facial lines and wrinkles. It is a simple, nonsurgical, virtually painless treatment administered by one of highly trained Injectors that have advanced training and treatment knowledge of the procedure that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe lines.
Before Treatment
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses, which reduces the movement of muscles. With less movement, the skin’s surface gradually smooths out and the moderate to severe lines begin to fade.
You can expect to see results within days of your treatment. The appearance of your lines may continue to improve for up to a week. Visible results can last three to four months. Your own results may vary.
If you decide not to continue the treatments, all treated areas will eventually return to their pre treatment appearance.
Although the results are dramatic, it will not radically change your facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed, so you can still smile, but without the wrinkles and creases.
Botox® is a natural, purified protein that is administered at very low doses. The effects of Botox® are usually confined to the injected region. It does not travel throughout the body. It is FDA-Approved and over 20 years of clinical use has proven it safe.
